Sophomore Duo Ranked In Final NCAA Volleyball Stats

In the final 2010 volleyball stats released by the NCAA, Wayne State University is represented by two sophomore student-athletes who rank among the top 50 in several statistical categories.

Katarzyna Sak (Warren, Mich./Cousino) finished the 2010 season ranked fifth in points per set (5.26). She is also 12th in Division II in aces (0.59), 19th in kills (4.01) and 22nd in blocks (1.15). A First Team All-GLIAC and two-time All-Region selection in 2010, Sak was also voted as an Honorable Mention All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Cydney Biessel (Ruby, Mich./Yale) ended her sophomore campaign ranked 33rd in the nation in assists per set (10.34). Biessel, who ranks sixth all-time at WSU in assists, was a Second Team All-GLIAC selection.

As a team, the Warriors were 28th in blocks per set (2.18) out of 263 teams.

Wayne State finished in second place (15-12, 13-6 GLIAC) in the South Division and qualified for the GLIAC Tournament for the third straight year under head coach Phil Nickel.
